Management, Communication, and Student Affairs will work creatively
and diligently to attain optimal enrollments, enhance student

The Office of Admissions at Colorado State University Pueblo will
support the University vision and enrollment goals by providing
intentional, professional, and attentive service to facilitate
recruitment and admission, with the purpose of attaining students
from diverse backgrounds who are well-suited to the University. The
communications and technology team assists in this process by
creating and maintaining communication, data, and technology to
provide optimal admissions and enrollment processes in service to
students and staff.
Description of Job
The Banner Admissions Specialist is an integral member of the Office of Admissions and serves as the functional expert for the Banner student information system and Banner Document Management (BDM) system as they relate to admissions processes and enrollment. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: ensuring appropriate data is flowing from Slate to Banner accurately, running audit queries to correct data errors, helping prepare both internal and external reports, conducting testing after upgrades, training internal and external staff in Banner procedures, and assisting with the management of documented processes related to admissions processes in Banner and BDM.
Primary Duties
- Manages day-to-day Banner operations for the Admissions Office and assigned personnel. This includes testing Banner system upgrades and workflows, querying the SQL database in both Banner and Slate, ensuring data integrity between the Slate CRM and Banner, troubleshooting issues in the SIS, and performing system maintenance.
- Develops SQL reports and queries, documents workflows, and oversees and recommends best practices in Banner Admissions procedures.
- Coordinates with other areas of the Admissions Office, external departments, staff at CSU Fort Collins, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot Banner-specific issues.
- Trains Admissions staff and stakeholders on Banner procedures.
- Serves as back-up to the Admissions CRM Processing and Technology Specialist. Other special projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution of higher education
- Capacity for independent work and problem solving
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, pay close attention to detail, and follow up in a timely manner
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, with specific skills in creating step by step instructions for technical activities
- Willing and able to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Experience working with student information systems (SIS) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Experience with trouble shooting and problem solving in a technical environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics or other related field
- Knowledge of API systems and web development programs such as ASP.NET
- Familiarity with standard Banner forms and tables
- Proficiency in the Software Development Life Cycle methodologies i.e., thorough application testing and requirements gathering
- Knowledge of/experience with:
- User interfaces and interactive deliverables that perform well both on mainstream devices and with assistive technology
- Product accessibility testing continuously through all development stages
- One year of experience in a CIS position OR one year experience working with Ellucian Banner software
- Demonstrated experience with relational database management systems (such as Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server); experience should include reviewing/analyzing data structures and writing SQL queries
- Experience with Ellucian Banner suite of products including Banner Document Management, Banner Workflow, and the Operational Data Store
- Experience working with Technolutions Slate or another CRM
- Experience working on collaborative projects and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience developing and presenting user and technical
documentation
One year of professional experience in higher education
