Director of Annual Fundraising, Athletics

Job Description

As a member of the Championship Resources team, the Assistant Director, Athletics Annual Giving (Director of Annual Fundraising) will be responsible for developing, managing, and implementing a comprehensive annual giving program in collaboration with the VT Central Annual Giving team in support of student-athlete scholarships and other necessary needs for Virginia Tech to compete at a championship level. This role will report directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Championship Resources Strategy and will manage a team of individuals focused on donor growth, stewardship, retention, premium seating, and events. Key responsibilities will be centered around the growth of annual revenue, growth of membership and alumni participation, donor experience, retention, and alignment with the rest of the external operations team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, management, or a related field.

Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising in the collegiate or professional sports environment.

Past leadership experience in a professional environment, either through direct reports or project management.

Excellent communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Past proven success in a fundraising environment, specifically focused on the growth of annual giving both in membership and in dollars raised.

An innovative, solution-driven thinker who is able to proactively manage multiple projects at one time.

Experience with the Paciolan suite of products for fundraising and ticketing as well as Blackbaud CRM or a similar platform.

Able to effectively utilize interpersonal skills to productively interact with a variety of key stakeholders across the entire university, as well as donors, prospects, ticket buyers, etc.

Past administration and oversight of budgeting to ensure proper utilization of funds, consistently evaluating return on investment.
