Marketing Manager

Global Marketing and Communications is seeking aMarketing Manager (Communications Associate) who will report to the Director of Integrated and Digital Marketing, and will lead program marketing and promotion efforts at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. In close coordination with other marketing and communications staff, they will lead the marketing plan development andexecution of assigned programs, partner on efforts related to the agency relationship and media plan development across the span of both traditional and digital media, the website content and messaging, the marketing ROI, and will advance the relevant market research. They will be a champion for Carey programs and will ensure all relevant partners including Admissions, Programs, Student and Marketing teams are fully aware of all marketing plans related to all assigned programs.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day creation and management of marketing plans, media, web, public relations and marketing agencies related to assignments by working with the broader marketing and communications department
  • Lead all acquisition and retention marketing efforts across all traditional and digital mediums
  • Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies and plans including leading the media planning and buying efforts with an external agency across all digital, traditional, events, partnership, cross promotion, etc. marketing tools
  • Lead engagement / relationship management strategies, leveraging direct marketing tools (e.g., email and other CRM tools) to drive results
  • Utilize and optimize SEO/SEM, email campaigns, user experience, digital advertising, promotions, and social media, etc. to build brand/program awareness, generate leads and engagement with participants
  • Measure and analyze campaign data and make adjustments to continue to drive ROI
  • Drive implementation of best practices through all paid/unpaid channels
  • Manage forecasts and marketing budget, inclusive of agency hours
  • Organize promotional events for prospective students (MBA Summit) as needed and ensure prompt delivery ofmaterials and merchandise
  • Develop creative briefs for both internal and external stakeholders to ensure all marketing materials and program messaging are created and accurate
  • Ensure brand consistency across all marketing activities within assigned programs (e.g., website, emails, social media, events, flyers, etc.)
  • Fully understand competitive landscape, monitor, report and provide marketing insights working in concert with market research analyst
  • Analyze marketing plan and performance using KPI’s, ROI analysis and apply learning in new planning

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Four years related experience
  • Advanced degree may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula*

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business
  • 7+ years’ experience preferred
  • 3+ years digital marketing experience (e.g., SEM/SEO/Email/Social/SMS/web) preferred

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent ability to develop strategic integrated multichannel marketing plans and outstanding ability to execute against those plans
  • Ability to clearly articulate (written and verbal) strategies and plans to achieve goals
  • Experience in optimizing marketing funnel from brand/program awareness to conversion to retention
  • Excellent understanding of lead generation conversion funnels
  • Superb understanding of how all digital marketing channels function including hands on experience with SEO/SEM, emails/CRM, web design
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the latest digital and integrated marketing tools
  • Experience in working with automated customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Experience with Slate a plus
  • Self-starter and can lead independently and proactively
  • Results-oriented with high standards for self
  • Proven experience in hiring and managing external media agencies
  • Ability to identify research needs and work with resources to gain the knowledge needed
  • Proven track record of success with paid digital marketing tools and strong consumer instincts
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving, and high attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative skills to build and influence strong working relationships across all departments and JHU-schools, and with all stakeholders
