Assistant Professor of Practice in Middle Childhood/Literacy

 

Position Description: The Department of Teacher Education is searching for an Assistant Professor of Practice starting August 22, 2022. We are seeking an experienced educator to join our faculty addressing issues of equity and social justice in school and society. The Middle Childhood Education program at CSU is a substantially field-based teacher education program that seeks to translate theory into practice and provide continuity in learning from discussions in the classroom to practices in the field.  Potential candidates would support this translation by nurturing learning interactions and strengthening partnerships with local educators, schools, and communities. The candidate selected for this position will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Middle Childhood Education (Grades 4-9) and Literacy Education. Additional responsibilities include advising students, supervising related clinical and field experiences for pre-service candidates, and participating in college, department, and program meetings. This is a non-tenure track position that is renewable upon successful performance for multiple years.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Earned master in teacher education or related field; and a minimum of ten years of successful teaching experience in grades 4-9, or its equivalent.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate in teacher education or related field; experience with university-school partnerships; certification or background in English/Language Arts..

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Statement of philosophy regarding effective Middle Childhood Education (Grades 4-9)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Evidence of teaching experience (e.g. course evaluations, teaching artifacts, etc.)

 

Note:  The successful candidate is required to submit an official transcript before their contract can be prepared.
