Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Quality Control & Training Coordinator to join our team. This position will provide the coordination of quality assurance and training activities for the Emergency Communication Center (ECC) through the establishment and support of a division-wide series of reviews, trainings, and operational and behavior modifications.

Minimum Hiring Standards

Knowledge of emergency communication best practices, creating and updating emergency communications center (ECC) policies and procedures, quality assurance evaluations, creating and delivering training modalities, adult continuing education concepts and the use of technology to measure and monitor employee performance and learning progress. Must have considerable knowledge and skills in developing training for emergency dispatchers, managing and prioritizing emergency communication incidents. Requires an excellent understanding of operating policies and procedures and the ability to apply these to complex administrative problems. Dependable work ethics. Excellent oral and good written communications skills. Extensive use of computers to retrieve and input information. Ability to fit into a team environment characterized by shared accountabilities. Ability to train staff, assist in assessing needs, developing resources and enhancing technology and procedures for an emergency communications center. At least five years’ experience in police emergency communications or similar working environment required. Must have active Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certification. High School diploma or GED required. Must have valid DMV operator’s license. Must have never been convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Hiring Standards

College degree preferred. Experience with coordinating Virginia State Police VCIN audits preferred. Experience supervising an emergency communications center preferred. Experience in quality assurance, team building, staff development and training; minimum of three years’ leadership experience preferred.

Salary Range: $44,000-$54,000
