Job Description

Are you a creative, driven, go-getter with a positive attitude who has the ability to multi-task and take initiative?

Reporting to the director of communications and marketing for the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the detail-oriented social media and digital content manager will work with the director to develop and implement a social media strategy for the office’s social platforms, coordinate social engagement across the research institutes, and collaborate with university relations. The ideal team player will be responsible for developing content, social listening and engagement, and analyzing metrics that collectively seek to raise awareness of university research strengths.

The social media and digital content manager will also be responsible for producing photography and videos to be used in digital and print format for the purpose of storytelling on social media, web platforms, and print publications.

Photography and videography skills include capturing and editing research as it’s happening spontaneously (for social) and posed research interviews settings in the lab, field, or classroom via an iPhone and/or DSLRs, and various lighting environments. Demonstrate knowledge of professional digital photography and videography, including lighting, composition, editing, color quality and aesthetics.

An integral member of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation’s Communications and Marketing team, this position requires both independent thinking and team collaboration to coordinate projects from concept to completion that adhere to university and college social media, branding, and style policies and conventions.

Required Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience developing and coordinating content for a variety of social media platform that include Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Google, Microsoft, Adobe products, and social media monitoring tools.
- Exemplary writing and editing skills, with an understanding of the special requirements of writing for the web, such as the use of keywords/SEO, hyperlinks, navigation and the importance of brevity.
- Advanced degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field or Bachelor's degree with equivalent professional experience experience.
- Ability to maintain a level of confidentiality with sensitive situations and information.

- Fluency with using Canon or Nikon DSLRs, or comparable cameras, to shoot images and video

Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to develop metrics and provide analysis of impact utilizing digital platforms.
- Experience with working with an established style-guide.

- Demonstrated skill in editing and delivering polished photos and videos on a tight schedule
