Assistant Professor (WOT), Division of Occupational Therapy

The University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is offering an outstanding opportunity for a full-time faculty position in our Division of Occupational Therapy. This position has an annual service period of 12 months (July 1 – June 30) and will be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor (without tenure due to source of funding, which is typical of ranked faculty appointments within the department). Except for distinctions related to funding sources, WOT faculty members have the same rights, responsibilities, and obligations as tenure-track and tenured faculty members. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2022, but other dates may be considered.

The Assistant Professor will be expected to fulfill requirements for advancement along the Clinician-Scientist pathway of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine. Job duties include teaching required courses in the Master of Occupational Therapy Program (MOT), mentoring and advising students in our MOT and PhD in Rehabilitation Science programs; engaging in curriculum evaluation and development and other teaching administration activities; and participating in continuous and periodic self-study activities to maintain program accreditation. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead their own portfolio of externally funded research projects, and opportunities to collaborate with other faculty on existing research projects may be available.

Qualifications

• An academic doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, ScD or foreign equivalent) in a relevant field and an Occupational Therapy degree.
• Must hold or be eligible for occupational therapy licensure in the state of Washington
• At least three (3) years of occupational therapy experience that includes clinical practice and teaching in an OT or related program 
• An established research agenda that includes publications in peer-reviewed journals and evidence of success in funding their research or strong potential for grantsmanship

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
