Position Summary

Trinity College, Hartford (CT), seeks candidates for a visiting assistant professor position (one-year term) in the Department of Philosophy, beginning in August 2022. Ph.D. in Philosophy required. AOS : Ethics (broadly construed); AOC : Environmental Ethics, Biomedical Ethics, History of Political Thought. (No Business Ethics.) The successful candidate will teach classes pertaining to both the AOS and AOC . We are also especially interested in a course on ethics and technology. Five courses per year. Trinity is a liberal arts college located in, and deeply engaged with, Connecticut’s capital city of Hartford. Our 2,200 students come from all socio-economic, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds across the US, and 17 percent are international. Candidates must submit a complete dossier including a letter of application, CV, writing sample, research statement (which should also include a dissertation abstract), statement of teaching philosophy (which should also speak to your approach to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion), sample syllabi, student evaluations, and contact information for 3 individuals who will provide letters of recommendation. Applicants will be asked to list contact information for reference providers, including email addresses. Once a completed dossier is submitted, automatic emails will be generated to each reference provider, directing each referee to a unique URL where the referee must upload a letter of recommendation. Applicants using Interfolio (or other dossier service) should provide the appropriate unique Interfolio email address for each reference letter writer. Applications are due March 1st, 2022.
