The Human Resources Generalist provides support with implementing, monitoring and improving the College’s employee relations program and serves as an advisor to supervisory and staff employees.  The position is responsible for labor relations and all other human resources matters, including gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records required for contract and policy development, investigations, and negotiations.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement. 

A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field and a minimum of five years of proven, direct responsibility for employee relations are required.

Other requirements include:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolute skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all federal, state and local laws pertaining to employment
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with PeopleAdmin, Ellucian Banner, and Performance Pro are a plus

Two years of HR experience working with unions and SHRM or HRCI certification are preferred.
