Position Summary
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Composition and Rhetoric with a focus in Writing Center Administration at the Assistant Professor level starting Fall 2022 to direct the University Writing Center and the department’s first-year composition program. Supplemental areas of expertise may include writing assessment of first-year writing and writing studies. Assigned 4/4 workload is split between university Writing Center oversight and instruction in first-year composition. Depending on candidate’s expertise and interest, this position may include instructional opportunities in the department’s online M.A. program. Excellent salary and benefits package. Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in English—Composition and Rhetoric. At least one-year experience in a university writing center also required, either as a faculty member, staff member, or an undergraduate or graduate student employee. Successful applicants must demonstrate commitment to teaching first-year writing both within and beyond the classroom—both to traditional and diverse populations. Candidates must also demonstrate dedication to scholarly work and service excellence. Successful performance in an on-campus interview and teaching demonstration required. Preferred Qualifications
Concentrated knowledge in Writing Center Administration and First-Year Writing with expertise in writing across the curriculum. Membership or experience with national best-practices professional organizations such as the Council of Writing Program Administrators ( CWPA ) or others. Online teaching experience beneficial.
