Oversees Houston Public Media (HPM) strategy execution of news on all platforms, ensuring collaborative and effective news coverage and marketing. Job Duties
  1. Develops and produces media for various projects in accordance with PBS Editorial Standards.
  2. Oversees and provides guidance to producers, reporters and digital staff.
  3. Coordinates media distribution and promotion across all platforms.
  4. Develops producers for succession roles within HPM.
  5. Understands brands and manages news so products are consistent with brands.
  6. Sets coverage expectations well in advance.
  7. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 5 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

The Executive Producer for Enterprise Journalism is a new position in our newsroom. This EP will manage our team of beat reporters and oversee our in-depth features, investigative reporting and special projects including limited-series podcasts and partner collaborations. The EP for Enterprise should have a passion for creating compelling, narrative driven storytelling using data and documents to ground our journalism. The EP for Enterprise will work closely with the EP for Daily News to manage the workflow of the newsroom. The EP for Enterprise will ensure beat reporters are developing strong journalism that can be published in multiple formats across platforms, including long-form reporting, hard news for newscasts and digital-first publications. The EP will also be a key liaison with our partners in The Texas Newsroom and NPR to coordinate statewide and national news coverage.

The ideal candidate has experience with audio editing and production, publishing on digital platforms, and managing a team. This position reports to the News Director.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of Houston or Texas issues and communities Experience working with outside partners and collaborations Excellent writing, editing and fact-checking skills Track record of managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks and deadlines Demonstrated experience breaking exclusive stories or leading investigative projects Experience with data-driven journalism
