The FSU Panama City College of Applied Studies invites applications for a Financial Planning Teaching Faculty I 9 or 12-month.

Responsibilities

The Florida State University College of Applied Studies, housed at the FSU Panama City Campus, recently developed a brand-new, undergraduate program in Financial Planning. We invite applications for a Teaching Faculty I position to take part in the inaugural offering of our new BS in Financial Planning (FP) program. The new FSU Financial Planning program was designed in a unique way. First, the program includes all courses necessary for students to be eligible to sit for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam upon graduation (the program will be applying for CFP-registered status in Spring 2022). Second, as a full BS program in Financial Planning, it also ensures students learn essential, applied skills to be successful in the Financial Planning workforce, by including specialized courses across multiple academic areas, such as: Business, Entrepreneurship, Psychology, and Communication. The FSU FP curriculum is the newest academic program for the College of Applied Studies, and it aligns well with FSUs College of Applied Studies mission to embed important career readiness skills into academic programs. The FSU FP program will be offered fully online with on-campus, in-person options available when feasible. For more information about the FSU College of Applied Studies, visit: https://pc.fsu.edu/college-applied-studies . The FSU FP program is housed at FSU Panama City, and this position will be based at the FSU campus in Panama City, FL.

The position is a 9- or 12-month, full-time, specialized, non-tenure track teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching undergraduate courses in Financial Planning as part of the new FP program (either online in the FP program or in-person classes in Finance or related areas). Additional responsibilities include course and curriculum development, mentorship of students, partnership building with relevant stakeholders, engagement with resources for teaching financial planning courses, and other service to the program/campus (with potential for leadership of the program if experience allows). This position is expected to begin in May 2022, or later if circumstances warrant.

Qualifications

PhD or doctorate degree in Financial Planning or closely related field from an accredited institution (must be conferred by start date of the position). Previous experience teaching at the university level, demonstration of excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong commitment to student success.

Preferred

Preference will be given to those with previous university teaching experience who can teach a variety of financial planning courses. Additional preference for candidates with certification as a CFP and applied experience as a financial planner. Leadership experience in applied or university settings also preferred.
