Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Website Content Writer to write and edit content for the Fort Lewis College website and digital marketing campaigns. As a Website Content Writer, you will write and edit engaging website marketing copy that will articulate the FLC brand and maximize prospective student conversions. You should also be able to write clear, concise descriptions and instructions that help current students, parents, and other audiences complete vital tasks quickly and easily. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is able to work with a diverse collection of constituent groups, and will be passionate about higher education and its ability to transform lives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communication, or a related field.
  • Two years' experience of professional web marketing writing.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience writing for search engine optimization (SEO) and web writing best practices such as typographic hierarchy.
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital accessibility and how to resolve them.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to code HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with SEO keyword research.
  • Ability to create and implement a content strategy.
  • Ability to create and conduct UX testing.
  • Familiarity with the Fort Lewis College culture.
Major Responsibilities
  • Researches and develops new content for web pages and digital advertising campaigns for Admission, Alumni, Advancement, and other departments across campus.
  • Works with the web team to identify web pages that are under performing. Researches and edits content to help the college and individual departments achieve their goals.
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508. Identifies digital accessibility issues on the website and helps resolve them.
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
  • Conducts search engine optimization keyword research and modifies page titles, meta descriptions, and page content to maximize organic search rankings.
  • Collaborates with the marketing team and campus clients on fundraising and marketing campaigns, events, projects, and advertising.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation

Salary $46,800 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
