Position Summary
The Dept of Religion at the University of Georgia invites applications for a lecturer in Jewish Studies. The successful candidate is expected to teach a broad range of courses (with a 4-4 teaching load), and to contribute to developing an inclusive curriculum that integrates Jewish Studies with intellectual communities beyond the department. The candidate will also hold a 25% cross-appointment in another unit that aligns with the candidate’s expertise.

Applications should include a cover letter that indicates the candidate’s thoughts on curriculum and engaging undergraduates and reflections on their experience of and vision for teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds, a curriculum vitae, sample syllabi for first- and second-year Hebrew courses, a representative article or chapter, and the names of at least three references, including email and surface addresses. Applications are invited in all specializations within Jewish Studies, and applicants whose work focuses on areas such as Israel, Diaspora, anti-Semitism, or European or American Jewry are most welcome . Disciplinary areas of interest include, among others, ethnology, arts and belles lettres, education, human geography, history, legal history, philosophy, sociology, communications, journalism. Candidates are expected to have pedagogical expertise in modern Hebrew and philological competence in earlier dialects .
