Position Summary:
The Data Visualization and Reporting Analyst reports to Director of IT Project Management and Strategic Initiatives within the Office of Information Technology. The incumbent in this position uses methodologies, tools, and best practices for modelling reporting systems, analytics, and dashboards. Primarily responsible for exploiting data availability and analysis capabilities within the university's enterprise solution portfolio. Works closely with Institutional Effectiveness to reinvent and deliver data driven decision support and enforce data governance rules. Oversees the campus-wide use of Qualtrics, the university research and insight platform. Develops and maintains InfoPath or similar web forms and backend workflow solutions. Regularly evaluates and recommends new technologies in the data analysis and reporting space. Collaboration with other members of the Office of Information Technology is a critical component to campus community service delivery.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Understands internal stakeholder objectives and develop appropriate data visualizations/dashboards that provide them with meaningful insights to achieve their objectives.
  • Responsible for the innovation and delivery of visualization dashboards (using various products) to present complex data in a way that conveys meaningful insights for the university.
  • Microsoft Reporting Solutions - Design and build reporting solutions. Integrate reporting solutions with various methods of delivery, such as Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, etc. Test reporting solutions and work with project managers and/or campus community members to validate report output.
  • Form and Workflow Support - Consult with campus community members to effectively use form and backend workflow solutions to improve data collection and evaluation. Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot form and backend workflows using InfoPath, SharePoint, or similar tools.
  • Web Survey Platform - Administers the university's web survey platform, including granting new user accounts, creating surveys, and monitoring survey activity. Supports faculty, staff, and student end users by providing training and on-going technical support.
  • Student Success Technologies - Administers the university's student success system, EAB Navigate, by managing user access, providing end-user training, and on-going technical support. Administers the campus course evaluation system, Campus Labs, by customizing the evaluation tools and collecting and importing data throughout the semester.
  • General - Perform emergency support services during evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary to support the 24 × 7 information needs of students, faculty, and staff. Contributes to the overall success of Office of Information Technology and the university by performing other duties and responsibilities as needed.



    Required Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work-related experience. A minimum of two-years experience working with enterprise relational database solutions. Must be a lifelong learner and a genuine fan of technology enhanced living.

    Physical Demand Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Working conditions are indoors.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology information systems emphasis. Experience in a higher education, liberal arts campus setting. Experience with data modeling, dashboard development and web-based analysis tools.
