    Department Summary
    University Advancement (UA) supports the University of Oregon's (UO) mission of providing exceptional teaching, discovery, and service by strategically positioning the university to create awareness, build long-term relationships, and secure resources that increase understanding and further its aims.     Advancement Operations provides essential services that build a strong foundation from which units within University Advancement promote the university's priorities and operate within a framework of efficient business practices. Programs within the division of Advancement Operations include: Financial Services, Strategic Talent Engagement, and Facilities and Office Operations.

    In addition to supporting University Advancement, Operations also provides services to University Communications staff, and other university areas such as UOAA Board of Directors and UO Board of Trustees.
    Position Summary
    The Program Manager for Events and Operations works with a wide variety of clients on and off campus to plan events and achieve revenue-generating goals for the Ford Alumni Center (FAC). Reporting to the Associate Director, Facilities and Building Operations (AD), this position develops and manages relationships with campus and community constituents and provides a high level of customer service while acting as an event services coordinator for events occurring in the FAC. The Program Manager works directly with clients to plan their events through facility support and manages a team of student workers who execute the daily operations. Decisions about event volume and scope to maximize facility usage are required, and the position must be able to operate independently using available resources, procedures, and policies to accommodate a high volume of requests.

    This role requires the ability to work after-hours and on the weekends (approximately 20% of the time), and involves physical setup and data entry via a computer workstation.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Two years of professional experience in events management.
  • One year of experience in a leadership role that includes budget management.
    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and take a lead role in the planning and execution of facility rentals and activities.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills and excellent visitor services etiquette skills, including the ability to work with a broad range of constituents.
  • Ability to supervise student employees, including recruiting and hiring, orientation and training, and performance management as needed.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and delegate.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skill, a strong sense of financial accountability, and the ability to manage resources with prudence and efficiency.
  • Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals, recognizing and respecting the many and varied identities of each person.
  • Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and their routine software applications; ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel (or similar).
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least one year of professional experience in higher education.
  • Experience with audiovisual technology as utilized in special events.
  • Experience with R25, EMS or comparable scheduling software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and Adobe products.
  • Experience supervising student employees.
