The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Research Program Coordinator who will oversee day-to-day activities of research project including recruitment, screening, and data collection. Works with the IPSAR investigators to successfully plan and implement a variety of clinically-oriented research studies focused on etiology and treatment of alcohol, nicotine and other drug use disorders. The Research Program Coordinator is responsible for monitoring the clinical course and collection of research data on participants entered into research protocols.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures research protocol is followed by the research team. Implements protocol changes and ensure that the study team is appropriately trained.
  • Oversees data collection and backup.
  • Oversee recruitment and ensures the attainment of recruitment goals.
  • conducts telephone screening of potential research subjects and in-person interviews to determine study eligibility and to complete standardized test materials for study intake.
  • conducts laboratory sessions including physiological monitoring, subject assessment and monitoring.
  • coordinates PET and fMRI imaging procedures, including escorting subjects to the PET and fMRI centers and CRU, and administering subjective report questionnaires.
  • Maintains subject follow-up database and locating, scheduling and interviewing research subjects.
  • Maintains research chart for each participant. Enters study data, maintains database and develops tables as needed.
  • Ensures appropriate study documentation.
  • Prepares study materials for quality assurance checks.
  • Assists with the preparation of study reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings to review study progress and regulatory activities.
  • Performs miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline with some related experience required.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.*

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
