HCC is hiring for a Budget and Program Assistant to support the Business & Computers division. This position will report to our offices in Columbia, MD.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides a full range of professional program support to the Business and Computer Systems Division, including, but not limited to, grant development and maintenance.
  • Provides administrative support between the division and other areas of the college, for grant processes and certification exam vouchers for students.
  • Manages processes related to the division Perkins grants, including application, reporting, administration of expenditures and coordination with college grant administrator and Perkins program coordinator.
  • Provides administrative support for division events connected to the Business Pathway. Participates in divisional teams to improve processes and provide support.
  • Coordinates budget development, implementation and monitoring of accounts related to certificate and technology related courses and division grants.
  • Develops and maintains all division information and records such as student files, correspondence, statistical data and reports.

Divisional Support:

  • Stays abreast of current grant requirements and works with staff and faculty to insure compliance.
  • Compiles data related to course and program completion.
  • First point of contact for student inquiries from the website.
  • Serve on college-wide committees and cross-functional teams to represent the division and faculty. Serve on faculty search committees (both full and part-time) as needed.
  • Manage the division portal site to include confirming all division members have needed access, uploading documents, organizing the site to be user-friendly.
  • Provide assistance to chairs in program accreditation processes. Duties include, but not limited to, research, preparation of reports and data, working directly with faculty to provide needed information. Serve as the BUCO division InfoView power user.
  • Manages grant applications, reporting and budgets within the division to include multiple Perkins grants each fiscal year. Coordinate all division Perkins processes with department chairs and other HCC departments
  • Coordinates special projects relating to the instructional needs of the Division as assigned by the Dean of the Business and Computer Division.
  • Oversees and coordinates all aspects of division events, including meetings, conferences, and other events related to division programs. In particular, coordination of the fall and spring Entrepreneurial Celebrations, to include all logistics, invitations, event program, and other needed support in cooperation with division faculty, Public Relations and Marketing, Educational Foundation, and other college departments where needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • AA Degree required.
  • Three years of experience with program administration.
  • Two to three years of college workplace experience preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail required.
  • Demonstrated office experience with budgets and/or grants.
  • Direct grant experience preferred.
  • Experience using MS Word and Excel required.
  • Knowledgeable in using Colleague, Access, Outlook, Business Objects, and related software programs desirable.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
  • Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
  • Willingness to learn new skills as the market changes.

Hours Per Week: 37.5
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, with occasional evening hours
Compensation:$22.45/hr ($43,948 yearly)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
