The Board of Directors of Mercy College of Health Sciences (the "College") invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of President. The President serves as the chief executive officer and is its official spokesperson. The President provides visionary and strategic leadership and direction for the College consistent with the College’s governance structure and with leadership from the Board of Directors. The President has broad responsibilities for all aspects of the academic, student, financial, administrative, governance, and external dimensions of the College. In representing the institution, the President fosters and models the values, mission, and ministry from the history and legacy of Mercy College.

Mercy College of Health Sciences is a premier health sciences specialty school with a legacy that spans over 120+ years of providing high-quality healthcare education while transforming students into trained healthcare professionals. With a walkable eight-acre campus located in the heart of Des Moines, Iowa, Mercy College offers unique hands-on learning, unparalleled clinical rotations, and accelerated education.  Mercy College provides collaborative education opportunities in partnership with MercyOne and national healthcare partners and is affiliated with MercyOne and the CommonSpirit healthcare system.  With 16 academic programs offering bachelor's and associate degrees, certificates, online degrees, and continuing education courses, the College’s students are prepared to enter the workforce quickly with the critical skills necessary to make an immediate impact in their chosen healthcare careers. 

The successful candidate will have a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university; five or more years in an executive leadership capacity; and relevant experience in both healthcare and higher education. In all cases, the successful candidate will  be prepared to work within a governance structure; have strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate a clear vision; educate and develop others and work effectively with diverse constituencies; have knowledge of program, state and national higher education accrediting standards and regulatory requirements; be able to demonstrate strong leadership effectiveness, successful collaboration, clear communication, a record of innovation, and the ability to enhance the College’s reputation.  The successful candidate will be committed to upholding the College’s mission, values, and heritage as a Catholic, faith-based institution in all aspects accomplished by advancing Mercy College's Core Values of knowledge, reverence, integrity, compassion, and excellence in all relationships and encounters.
