Summary/Objective

Working under the supervision of the Director of Grants and Contracts Accounting, this position is responsible for the preparation of reports and schedules to support the fiscal management of federally and privately sponsored grants and contracts. This includes appropriate award establishment based on contractual documents, reviewing budget data for accuracy, entering journal entries, preparing financial reports, invoicing, and ensuring OMB and sponsor compliance requirements are met for approximately 65 projects. This position also involves detailed analysis of financial data along with preparation of and involvement with audits, schedules, reports, and other financial documents.

Essential Functions
  1. Responsible for the timely reporting of approximately 65 federal grants valued at $7 million.
  2. Interacts with staff and faculty to ensure the university is in compliance with federal grant regulations.
  3. Works in a deadline driven environment where the late filing of reports could result in financial penalties.
  4. This position reports directly to the Director of Grants and Contracts Accounting (GCA).

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
  • 3 years’ experience or combination of education and experience which demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities needed to perform the job.
  • Prior experience utilizing a complex data management system.
  • Excellent customer service, collaboration, analytical, teaming and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to identify and provide solutions to administrative problems as well as the ability to study and interpret financial data, interpret contractual terms and conditions, follow government reporting instructions, and reconcile financial data.
