The Social Media Manager monitors and maintains the reputation of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) in the digital realm. In this role, you will develop relationships across the School to identify stories and deliver relevant, innovative and consistent messaging through a wide variety of channels including social media, e-newsletters and the website. Working in collaboration with the communications team, you will help implement a coordinated approach to create, develop, manage and administer high-quality social media content daily, as well as monitor and analyze the impact of social media campaigns. The Social Media Manager reports directly to the Associate Director of Print and Digital Content in the Communications Office at VCUarts.

Tasks include:
• Continuously engage, monitor and respond to comments and feedback on social media, with an eye to positively positioning the School
• Generate and maintain interest in the VCUarts brand through its social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Youtube, LinkedIn) and social media advertising.
• Create, curate, publish and share engaging, original and high-quality content daily, including video, graphic and written content, that maintain engagement with VCUarts.
•Share information and tell stories by writing for social media, short-format web stories, news releases, e-newsletter, and other platforms as necessary, following the strategy set by the Executive Director for Strategic Communications and Associate Director for Print and Digital Content.
• Support recruitment, retention and awareness efforts by developing and implementing social media tactics and creating engaging sponsored content campaigns for both undergraduate and graduate admissions.
• Act as a liaison between the university and the school to ensure that the school’s social media practices are in compliance with the university’s standards (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 AA).
• Actively engages in environmental scanning to make recommendations for changes, upgrades, and/or utilization of new and current social media trends; analyzes competitor’s tactics; and implements best practices at the school level for the benefit of the school, especially it’s recruitment efforts.

Required Qualifications:

-Experience using social media for brand awareness;
-Experiencing monitoring social media, reporting threats and opportunities;
-Strong interpersonal skills;
-Excellent multitasking skills;
-Strong written and verbal communication skills;
-Writing ability that demonstrates attention to audience, tone, nuance and detail;
-Ability to work effectively under deadlines and juggle several assignments
simultaneously;
-Ability to distinguish and behave with a good sense of decorum, acting as a brand ambassador is absolutely required;
-Data, analytics, and metrics oriented
-Track record of using good judgment and making sound decisions that demonstrate problem-solving ability, adaptability and responsiveness to change.

Preferred Qualifications:

-BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university;
-Demonstrated experience and a passion for the social technology universe
(i.e., Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, etc.);
-Experience with online monitoring and measurement platforms including but
not limited to Omniture, Facebook Insights, YouTube Insights, Google Analytics,
HootSuite, TweetDeck, and Social Mention;
-Experience launching email and text messaging campaigns;
-Experience with creating and identifying quality social media content related to
the arts and design;
-Strong technical background with advanced computer skills;
-Experience with content management systems, especially WordPress;
-Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
-Aptitude to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both
internal and external stakeholders;
-Extremely strong communication and presentation skills.

Salary Range: $20 - $23
