The Alumni Association connects, cultivates, and channels the power of Terps to enrich themselves and advance the University. In our recent alumni survey, alumni rate job assistance, industry networking, and professional development as the #1, #2, and #3 most important things the Alumni Association can do to support alumni. In the long term, alumni who have found greater career success due to the support of their alma mater will lead to an increased likelihood of alumni willingness to donate their time, talent, and treasure back to their alma mater.   The Manager of Alumni Career Programs will play an integral role in engaging our alumni through meaningful professional networking opportunities, both in-person and online. The Program Manager will create and execute a strategic plan that helps alumni advance their careers and achieve their professional goals. This will include managing a robust portfolio of events and opportunities to help alumni gain new connections to find new jobs and directly connect with fellow alumni, to include:  
  • Virtual Mentorship & Networking
    • Oversee and grow Terrapins Connect online networking platform 
    • Create and execute mentorship programming in partnership with relevant campus stakeholders and notable alumni

     

  • Alumni Career Connection Events
    • Independently create and execute career connection events & opportunities including but not limited to:
    • Job Fair (virtual, in-person)
    • Speed networking / mentoring
    • Industry networking
  In addition, the Program Manager will oversee all virtual programs; webinars, Terrapins Connect, Book Club, and virtual programs e-newsletter. This includes creating strategic marketing plans to drive participation rates, creating and editing written and video content, and facilitating technical updates to improve platforms.
This position will be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.   Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor’s degree required.
 
Experience:
A minimum of five years of experience in alumni relations, event management, career/professional development or related field.  Successful candidates must have experience working with/executing virtual programs, as well as experience creating marketing pieces (such as emails or newsletters).  Candidates must also have experience with Advance or similar data management platform or CRM.

  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and Zoom, or similar products.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
