Job Description
The UMKC Human Resources team is expanding! We are seeking two self-motivated, detail-oriented HR professionals to become members of our team. These full-time positions will coordinate hiring processes for staff and/or academic positions, supporting our goal of attracting a highly qualified, diverse applicant pool, resulting in hires that are focused on the mission, goals and objectives of the department and university. Successful candidates will be organized, responsive problem-solvers with a positive, can-do attitude. Duties include but are not limited to:
Academic Hiring
- Assists Academic Specialist with initial outreach to search committees and tracks search committee’s process and approvals for Provost and CFO
- Complete administrative tasks for search committees, including collecting documents, responding to inquiries from search committee members, scheduling meetings and tracking training attendance
- Provide responsive communication related to status requests to HR Business Partners and leadership
- Manage approvals and recycles of the Academic/Provost hiring queue
- Assist with various steps in the hiring process, including entering/reviewing postings, sourcing, and monitoring candidate pools
- Update hiring and process documents and templates as needed; monitor hiring webpages to ensure there are current documents, templates & information posted and repair broken links
- Work with departments for questions around HLC faculty credentials
- Review and approve research contracts and hiring packets in accordance with appropriate timelines
- Provides back-up as able during Academic Specialist absences
- Support additional academic initiatives and projects
- Support the Full-Cycle Recruiting model with external ad placements, screening applicants for minimum qualifications, pool certification requests, scheduling phone and on-site interviews, and reference checks that include criminal background checks and education verification
- Responsible for timely applicant communication related to phone screens, interviews, status of applications, and sourcing calls, ensuring an outstanding candidate experience
- Maintain social media content calendar to ensure a consistent UMKC Careers brand
- Serve as coordinator and administrative support for executive-level search committees
- Support the onboarding function by drafting offer letters, scheduling new hires for new employee orientation, building annual new employee orientation schedule, including room reservations, materials, and weekly welcome reminder calls to new hires
- Support additional department initiatives and projects
An associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent MS Office skills, and comfort with leveraging technology to increase efficiencies
- Experience in higher education, or other high-volume recruiting/hiring environment
- Experience with applicant tracking systems or experience coordinating multiple processes simultaneously
