Chancellor of Penn State Great Valley (Administrator)

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking candidates for the position of Chancellor, Dean and Chief Academic Officer (CAO) of Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies. The Chancellor/Dean/CAO serves as the chief executive and academic officer of the school and is responsible for the quality of academic programs in teaching, research, and service, including the promotion and tenure process; strategic planning; budgeting; philanthropy; faculty and staff development; outreach and alumni and community relations.

The position requires an individual who can lead a campus that is part of a twenty-four-campus, student-centered, comprehensive research university, and work collaboratively with other academic leaders and units, including key partnerships with Penn State Global, and the Graduate School. In addition to providing academic and administrative leadership to Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies, the Chancellor/Dean/CAO is a key executive of the University and serves as a member of the Academic Leadership Council, the Council of Campus Chancellors, and the Advisory Committee for Graduate Education. The successful candidate will be an experienced academic leader with an entrepreneurial outlook who is able to take charge of an effective and thriving campus and serve as a steward of Penn State in the broader Philadelphia region.

Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies is a special mission graduate school within the Pennsylvania State University, the land-grant university of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania serving over 90,000 students. The school enrolls approximately 426 on-campus and 880 online students and offers master's degrees and graduate certificates in business, big data, engineering, finance, healthcare, leadership, and technology. The School enrolls a substantial number of students in non-credit professional development programs such as Lean Six Sigma, project management, leadership development, and agile business analysis. There are 36 full-time and 45 part-time faculty and 42 full-time and 51 part-time staff employees.

A minimum of five years of experience in higher education administration in a comprehensive institution with extensive experience in graduate programs with responsibility for strategic oversight of personnel, planning, programs, communication, and resources is required. Candidates should have a teaching and research record with credentials commensurate for an appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure. The successful candidate will have a commitment to high-quality disciplinary and interdisciplinary education, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion. Qualified candidates will have a terminal degree and the aptitude and willingness to lead significant fundraising efforts. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate Professional Studies is the first campus to be located in a corporate center. Based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, the campus is conveniently located to most professionals in southeastern Pennsylvania due to its proximity to Route 202, Route 30, I-76, I-476, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
