Position Description Summary/Purpose :
This position provides pedagogical support and related technology to faculty, including online courses and materials that reinforce student satisfaction with active and adaptive, collaborative learning; student success; and retention of a diverse population of learners.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

- Designs and develops online courses.
- Designs and conducts instructional technology workshops and presentations for faculty.
- Provides online and in-person faculty training and coaching in instructional design and best practices for online learning.
- Creates a culture of widely shared technology-enhanced, effective teaching and learning practices
- Assists Portfolium management and training support
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.

- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
- Expertise applying learning theory and pedagogical best practices
- Expertise applying instructional design processes and quality benchmarks to course development
- Expertise using a learning management system
- Working knowledge of emerging technologies and strategies for successful integration into teaching and learning
- Familiarity with and ability to train faculty in the use of a wide range of teaching-learning technologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline 2, Blackboard Learning Management System, Databases, Course Management Systems
- A solid working knowledge of instructional design principles and a rich understanding of web design and coding to develop and maintain the College’s faculty resource site.
- Blackboard Learn and Community Engagement experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Linux shell scripting, XML, HTML, Javascript and SQL.
- Experience with Blackboard Content Management Software (CMS).
- Familiarity with multi-computer application software platforms such as UNIX/LINUX, Windows and Oracle.
Education, Training and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience as an instructional designer, preferably in a setting with a diverse learner population
