Assistant College Lecturer in Philosophy & Comparative Religion
Position Description: The Department of Philosophy and Comparative Religion and the Black Studies Program at Cleveland State University invite applications for a full-time appointment in African and African American Religion at the rank of Assistant College Lecturer beginning August 22, 2022. The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment in Comparative Religion and Black Studies. Duties will include teaching 12 credit hours/4 courses per semester plus service and committee work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PhD. in Religious Studies or a closely related field by July 1, 2022
- Ability to teach courses on the Black religious experience in the U.S.
- Ability to teach introductory courses in Religious Studies and Black Studies
- Evidence of teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to develop new courses in African religions and/or religions in the African diaspora
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Evidence of ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community
