ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE, University of Hawai'i, position number 88183, 9-month, permanent, general funds, full time, tenure track appointment, to begin August 1, 2022, subject to position clearance and availability of funds. The Cognitive, Neuroscience & Social area within the Department of Psychology (http://www.psychology.hawaii.edu/), University of Hawai'i at Manoa, College of Social Sciences, in Honolulu, Hawai'i, invites applications for an Assistant Professor who will add to the department’s strengths in cognitive psychology and behavioral neuroscience. Of particular interest are candidates who investigate mechanisms of human attention and perception using a combination of behavioral and neuroimaging approaches (EEG and fMRI), candidates who are actively engaged in refining ERP methodologies, and candidates with established connections to imaging centers in Hawaii to further their fMRI/DTI research programs. Due to budget constraints start-up funding will be limited.  

DUTIES:  Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cognition and behavioral neuroscience, including Research Methods and other related courses, as needed. Supervise and mentor MA and PhD students; seek extramural funding; publish scholarly, peer-reviewed research in the area of expertise; provide service to the department, university and community. Other duties assigned by the chair.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Ph.D. in Psychology or Neuroscience (e.g., Cognitive, Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognitive Neuroscience) or related field from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalent; demonstrated ability to teach cognition, behavioral neuroscience, research methods, and undergraduate statistics; record of research accomplishment (publications, grants) commensurate with time in the field; and ability to interact with faculty, staff, and students in a productive and professional manner.  

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  The ideal candidate will also have (1) post-doctoral research experience in related area; (2) a demonstrated ability to receive extramural funding from public and private sources; and (3) current funding capable of offsetting the majority of start-up costs.   

SALARY RANGE:   Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
