Summary and Job Functions
This position is an essential component of the newly established Virginia Infection Prevention and Control Training Center (VIPTC), a program in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). The Communications Specialist will be responsible for promotion of the program and its curriculum across the state via stakeholder organizations and social media to grow interest and enrollment at the initiation of the Training Center. The Communications Specialist will also serve as a leader of strategic communications activities from inception to completion including but not limited to communications strategy development, budget planning, communications planning and implementation with the management. - Supports the strategic vision of VIPTC
- Analyzes complex communications and marketing research data, develop strong strategic insights and plans to support effective and measurable communications
- Develops communication initiatives that engage and align audiences to VIPTC’s mission, vision and goals; supports internal brand building and alignment
- Plans strategic communications and execute with strong writing and verbal skills, knowledge of Associated Press Style, management skills
- Supports communications at all levels and in all locations via phone, e-mail, webex, and face-to-face in a professional manner to achieve results
- Maintains confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA, FERPA and other relevant privacy rules and policies
- Integrates multimedia communications for internal and external audiences
- Crafts organization or company-wide communications, including intranet content, internal memos and presentations
- Works closely with VIPTC leadership and business partners within the community
- Develops and reviews communication materials for internal and external audiences that engage and inform team member, faculty and clinical providers
- Implements multiple components of the communications strategy such as researching, drafting and editing key messages, articles, memos, and announcements that drive VIPTC goals
- Customizes messages for audiences, including health care providers, students, and community members
- Additional position requirements such as shift rotations, occasional after-hours and weekend events may be required
- This individual should be experienced in communications and social media management
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
- Skilled in the use of current electronic communications tools
- Ability to research, draft, and edit, key messages, articles, memo, and related communications material
- Ability to analyze and interpret data and present it in understandable and compelling form.
A Bachelors Degree in related field or education and relevant experience that equates to this degree, is required. An advanced degree in a discipline such as marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred. Experience in research communications. Experience in training and education. knowledge of Associated Press Style,

This is a restricted position and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
The job is full time and the hours are Monday -Friday, generally 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
A fingerprint background check is required

Salary Range: $35,000 - $45,000
