New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY) is a comprehensive college of over 17,000 students in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees in technology and health related degree programs, other career-oriented degrees and liberal arts transfer degrees in its Schools of Arts and Sciences, Technology and Design, and Professional Studies. The Computer System Technology (CST) department at City Tech is engaged in the development of innovative associate and baccalaureate curricula to educate students in emerging information technologies and their application to business, science, the arts and other human endeavors, and prepare them for rewarding careers. It is the largest department at the College, offering an AAS degree in Computer Information Systems, a BTech in Computer Systems and a BS in Data Science, with multiple areas of concentration. The CST department is part of the School of Technology and Design, which provides a unique environment for interdisciplinary research and learning.

The Computer Systems Technology department at City Tech invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position. The CST department is seeking a candidate with expertise in Data Science, our newest degree program. The Department seeks an innovative individual, having both a solid theoretical background and technical expertise in various areas of computer science and/or data science. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, and guidance duties. They will also be responsible for committee and departmental assignments, and administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned. The position requires a commitment to teaching, scholarly research resulting in publications and presentations, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement. The Assistant Professor will be expected to actively participate in College/University-wide initiatives and function collaboratively in department level efforts, playing an active role in the creation, development, and assessment of department curricula and maintaining the academic vitality of the department

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/Data Science or related fields with expertise in Data Science. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by the date of appointment in August 2022 for a fall appointment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate would have at least two years college level teaching experience and would join a growing team of faculty working to develop and teach undergraduate courses focused in these areas. The ideal candidate would have experience and show interest in creating new courses to meet emerging workforce needs, as well as experience in teaching general computer courses currently offered by the department. Research and publication, and other evidence of scholarly growth and achievement, are required for tenure and promotion.
