Position Description Summary

Northern Illinois University ( NIU ) invites applications for an anticipated Assistant Professor (tenure track) position in experimental high-energy physics ( HEP ). Appointment at the Associate Professor level may be considered for exceptional candidates with the commensurate experience. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2022. The position will be housed in the Department of Physics. The appointment will also be associated with the multi-disciplinary Northern Illinois Center for Accelerator & Detector Development ( NICADD ). NICADD has strong collaborations with Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

Responsibilities:
The NIU HEP group has significant responsibilities in the ATLAS and DUNE experiments. The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in one or both through their expertise in software/analysis and/or detector R&D. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to supervise student research.

Required Qualifications

Prospective candidates must have a doctoral degree in physics, an outstanding record of self-directed research in experimental HEP at the post-doctoral level, and have a strong interest in teaching.
