Position Summary:
This position works in collaboration with and reports to the Idaho State IPM Coordinator to provide oversight on effective implementation of IPM Extension programs in Idaho. The Program Manager will coordinate outreach activities across Extension programs, prepare annual reports , coordinate bi-annual advisory board meetings across the state, assist with conducting evaluations and work closely with UI Web Team and Northwest Knowledge Network to update UI IPM website, and make available data from all pest monitoring programs on the web in a timely manner. The position will ensure appropriate use of financial resources, ensure compliance with federal, state and University of Idaho (UI) procedures and policies, The IPM Program Manager is expected to assist clientele with pest identification and management recommendations (urban and agricultural). The Program Manager will collaborate with Extension faculty to develop and conduct applied research, as needed. This position is based at the Aberdeen Research and Extension Center in Aberdeen, Idaho. The Aberdeen Research and Extension Center the largest University of Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station, located in southeastern Idaho.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Entomology and Pest Management (or related fields).
  • Experience with insect identification and integrated pest management in urban and agricultural settings.



  • Experience with pests of agronomic (e.g., cereals, alfalfa, sugar beet) or specialty crops (e.g., potatoes, legumes, onions) and willingness to learn about pests of new crops/cropping systems.

  • Two years’ relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Entomology or related fields.



  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with rural, agricultural and urban stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated skills in developing educational material and peer reviewed publications.

  • Experience in organizing extension events and workshops.

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish.

Required Licensures, Certifications or other
  • A valid driver’s license.



  • The successful candidate is expected to obtain an Idaho Pesticide Applicator License (consultant) within the first 6 months of the start date.
