This position begins July 1, 2022.

Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.

Brief Description of Duties:
* Internal Only; Non-probationary MCC faculty, OR MCC faculty with successful completion of five (5) years consecutive full-time employment at MCC in a discipline of the hiring campus’s division on or before June 30, 2022.

Full-time assignment responsible for:

1. Maintain daily office hours coinciding with campus structure in order to be available when needed. The Dean of Instruction of each campus, along with the Division Chairpersons, will develop Chairs’ schedules to ensure proper coverage of campus and division duties.

2. Provide leadership in the development of the division.

3. Assist in the orientation of new full-time instructors and adjuncts.

4. Communicate relevant information regarding division affairs to the division faculty

5. Schedule and chair division meetings.

6. Staff division committees and make recommendations for staffing extra-division committees.

7. Monitor the ordering of textbooks for all courses taught in the division and make certain that instructors have desk copies of textbooks required for their courses in accordance with established bookstore procedures.

8. Maintain division inventory and inventory records.

9. Supervise all personnel in the division in accordance with district policies, regulations and procedures. Where this has been provided for in the organizational structure, part-time faculty will be assigned to a division person.

10. Arrange for classes to be covered in the event of absence of assigned instructors.

11. Represent the division with curriculum committees.

12. Maintain communication internally and externally to ensure proper articulation and resolution of problems within the campus and within the district.

13. Prepare and monitor division budgets in cooperation with program and discipline coordinators, appropriate deans and faculty within the division.

14. Distribute relevant budget information to division faculty.

15. Coordinate, manage, and process instructional assignments and operations of the department including documentation of faculty assignments and faculty absences.

16. Recruit, interview, and recommend employment of full-time and adjunct instructors and staff personnel in accordance with district personnel policies, regulations and procedures.

17. Assist in recommending faculty members for professional development activities such as leaves of absence, sabbatical leaves, workshops, and in-service training.

18. Cooperate with campus enrollment managers to ensure timely posting of grades.

19. Cooperate with the dean of instructional services in examining and revising the college curriculum.

20. Cooperate with the faculty and the dean of instructional services in planning and scheduling of classes.

21. Cooperate with the dean of instructional services in revising the course catalog and keeping the sections of the catalog affecting the division current and monitor and assist with various program accreditations.

22. Cooperate with the dean of instructional services and the dean of student affairs in the registration of students.

23. Cooperate with the deans and the colleges in disciplinary matters.

24. Cooperate with the dean of instructional services in evaluating full-time faculty members in accordance with district policies.

25. Cooperate with the dean of instructional services in preparing individual assignment sheets for division faculty members.

26. Complete periodic training sessions in relation to division chair assigned job duties. These sessions, where appropriate, may include any faculty who may wish to gain such training and/or those faculty who are Division Chairs-select.

27. Ability to teach a minimum of two classes, up to a maximum of three classes per contract year. Exceptions to the teaching load may be granted by the dean in order to meet institutional needs.

28. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

1. Understanding of educational administration, curriculum, and student development processes.

2. Skills in dealing diplomatically with upset individuals involved in student complaints, staff conflicts, faculty concerns, or problems with referring agencies or employers.

3. Ability to form, facilitate, and promote collaborative pedagogical, and student development units.

4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of people.

5. Ability to organize and direct the activities of others successfully.

6. Ability to create, plan, organize, and manage on and off campus programs.

7. Ability to manage budgets.

8. Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record prior to driving on district business. Preferred Areas of Expertise:
* Experience or training in supervision, budget, management, leadership, curriculum, project management, and mentoring.

* Participation on/in District committees, task forces and initiatives.
