Director of College Counseling

Ransom Everglades School

Miami, FL

Ransom Everglades School (RE or “the School”), a dynamic independent day school in the Miami-Coconut Grove area, seeks a talented, collaborative, and ambitious Director of College Counseling. This is an opportunity to shape an essential program for RE students and their families and be a leader at a school that is at the forefront of educational innovation. The successful candidate will enhance and lead a bold and proactive college counseling program that will expand students’ exploration of, and understanding of, the higher education admission process. The Director and his/her team will ensure that students are well prepared to tell their stories in the college search process, will advocate for students effectively, and will promote the distinctive RE experience to colleges and universities. The incumbent will partner with faculty and administrators across the RE campus to bring the College Counseling Office to its next exciting phase.

Situated within the vibrant city of Miami, Ransom Everglades is a top-tier independent school with a public purpose, combining rigorous college preparation with a commitment to making a societal impact. Since 1903, Ransom Everglades has been known for developing well-rounded students who are service-oriented leaders and who embrace a dynamic and challenging educational curriculum. At its core, RE’s philosophy emphasizes teaching students to believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it. RE has 1,121 students across two campuses in grades 6-12 and is widely considered one of the best schools in Florida and the nation. RE has a diverse and engaged student body, talented and committed faculty, and an incredible location on Biscayne Bay. RE has enjoyed strong and stable leadership, enabling it to thrive in an increasingly competitive landscape with steady enrollment numbers and an exceptional reputation.

Reporting to the Head of School and working in partnership with other academic and administrative leaders, the Director of College Counseling will provide strategic direction for the College Counseling Office through data-driven analysis and effective communication. Ideal Director candidates will demonstrate a successful track record in the field of college admissions and/or college counseling. Candidates will demonstrate the capacity to lead and mentor a high functioning team; promote a culture of data-driven decision making; partner with faculty and academic leaders; provide thought leadership for senior campus leaders; communicate with diverse audiences; create sustainable processes; and be abreast of trends in higher education. The ideal candidate will be a visible presence on campus, known to faculty, staff, students, and families, building upon the strong sense of shared commitment to the development of RE students.
