Maryville University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Director of Human Resources and Talent Development. The Human Resources Director will lead talent development and management to support achievement of the university’s strategic plan. Additionally, the Human Resource Director will cultivate a work environment and culture that is consistent with the university’s mission and values. The Human Resources Director provides oversight for a number of key functional areas of human resources including talent management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, legal and regulatory compliance, and performance management. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance, the successful candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Leads the Human Resources Department in alignment with the strategic plan of the University

• Identifies opportunities to innovate systems, processes, and services

• Develop and grow institutional talent management program including recruitment and selection, new hire onboarding, performance management, employee development, and succession planning

• Enhance and grow the university’s onboarding program to orient new hires to the university culture, values, and strategic plan and lay the foundation for a successful career at Maryville

• Conduct workforce planning, employee development, and succession planning programs that provide pathways to grow internal talent and manage performance in alignment with the university’s strategic objectives and to create bench strength

• Leverage data and technology solutions to inform and empower all functions within Human Resources. Manage enterprise systems including ADP, Colleague, and other technology solutions

• Provide proactive coaching, counseling and guidance on matters pertaining to employee relations

• Liaise with key partners including the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance, legal counsel, and other key campus leaders

• Oversee the university’s compensation and benefit programs to ensure competitiveness in the marketplace, alignment with key benchmarks, and legal and regulatory compliance

• Manage communications and engagement with employees to foster a work environment and culture that aligns with the university’s mission and values, and positions Maryville as a preferred employer

• Maintains current working knowledge of the legal and regulatory landscape as it relates to the human resources function

• Successful experience with budgets and financial analysis related to human resource programs

• Knowledge of federal and state employment practices, regulations, including EEO and civil rights regulations

Minimum Qualifications

• Three to five years of supervisory experience within a Human Resources Department

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field

• PHR/SPHR certification
