Graphic Designer II
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is looking for a seasoned, self-driven on-site graphic designer to inspire and collaborate with the creative services team in the Division of Communications and Marketing. Graphic Designer II conceptualizes, produces, and leads strong design work to support university marketing and communications initiatives. This position reports to and assists the Creative Services Director with workflow, project distribution, brand management, art direction and team leadership. Graphic Designer II will lead and inspire creatives from the design, photography, video, and web teams. This position deals primarily with print and publication work but will also support digital requests such as social media, website, and email graphic assets when necessary. This is NOT a remote position.

Essential Job Functions

● Creative leadership and art direction: Work with Creative Services Director to execute direction across multiple platforms from conception to completion while leading the Creative Services team; complete assignments efficiently and on time
● Design work: Create print publications, campaigns, marketing components, digital assets and other university and divisional needs, including signage, wayfinding, and environmental graphic design
● Brand management: Enforce established brand guidelines through all channels, communicate compliance to internal and external brand asset users, find viable solutions to branding challenges and work with UT System licensing officials to approve retail and promotional branded items
● Project workflow and archiving

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements
Education

● Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field

Experience

● 5 years’ experience in graphic design in a collaborative, creative, fast-paced agency, or in-house environment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

● Able to produce compelling, top-notch layouts across multiple platforms efficiently and effectively
● Highly creative and can successfully produce, evaluate, and edit concepts
● Clearly communicate with client during intake, concept presentation and production to ensure successful project outcomes
● Strong ability to communicate a cohesive design vision
● Ability to analyze recruitment insights for a creative perspective
● Understand and keep up with design trends and format changes
● Solid command of Adobe Creative Suite
● Strong organizational skills—project management, delegating and completing projects on time
● Contributes to a collegial, collaborative, and respectful workplace environment
