Teach the theory, face-to-face lab, and/or clinical components of the Nurse Assisting Program.

Work will be at Grayslake campus, Lakeshore campus, Southlake campus, and/or Clinical Sites

Required Qualification
  1. Associate’s Degree in Nursing or higher.
  2. Registered Nurse licensure in Illinois.
  3. A minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience.
  4. A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a nurse in one or both of the following areas:
    • Teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program; OR
    • Providing nursing care, including personal care and activities of daily living, to older adults or chronically ill adults.
  5. Completion of an approved IDPH Train the Trainer Course (not required for a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher).
  6. Completion of 4 CEUs of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias training (required for those not completing a Train the Trainer Course).
  7. Current CPR certification.
  8. Ability to lift, push or carry 50 pounds or over.
  9. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  10. Instructors need to be approved by IDPH prior to teaching.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • One (1) year experience teaching in an accredited IDPH -approved Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program.
  • One (1) year nursing experience caring for the elderly in long term care.
  • One (1) year experience working as a CNA and/or with CNAs.
  • Current AHA BLS Instructor certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively working with a diverse student body.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

The number of adjunct faculty hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Adjunct faculty hires and assignments are coordinated by the department chairs.
