Campus Recreation invites applications for a Business Manager (Budget Analyst III) to join their team. This position is primarily responsible for the financial management and budgetary analysis of Campus Recreation. This position reports to the Director of Campus Recreation, and is a member of the departmental decision-making management team. The Business Manager is not responsible for the management or supervision of classified staff or contract professional employees; but may supervise tasks of classified, temporary, or student staff as required.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Interpret the budget and makes recommendations to the Director
  • Advise the Director on fund level expenditures
  • Collaborate with the Director and Associate Director on departmental, fiscal, policy, and management decisions
  • Implement budgetary decisions; Create, interpret, implement, and coordinate administrative fiscal policies for the department
  • Provide input on strategic planning, budgeting, ordering replacement equipment and supplies
  • Research pertinent information regarding budget and fiscal policies
  • Monitor the program area and departmental balances for the Director
  • Reconcile budget
  • Oversee departmental billing
  • Utilize Banner, UMDW, and other pertinent software for financial data
  • Represent department in financial meetings either with or in place of the Director
  • Review department contracts and makes recommendations to the Director
  • Act as primary liaison with Student Affairs budget officer
  • Manage or assist managing the following areas: Staff trainings, facility planning, special event planning, purchasing, facility reservations, facility requests, member relations, report generation, monetary transactions, inventory management
Required Skills
  • Ability to track and analyze budgetary information
  • Strong financial, organizational, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively articulate all Campus Recreation policies and procedures to all stakeholders
  • Effective computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years related work experience
  • Financial and budgetary experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of various financial software platforms utilized by the university
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and other relevant software packages
  • BLS certification and training in administering first aid
  • Valid current Driver’s License

Position Details

Position Title: Budget Analyst III

Position Number: NEW

Department: Campus Recreation

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year

Salary: $22.503/hr

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
