Position Summary

The ASA II will be under the general direction of the Department Chair. Provides clerical, administrative, and academic support to the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. Takes Minutes at Department Meetings; Duplicate course materials for faculty; Assist the Graduate Coordinator in maintaining graduate student files and running of the master's exams; post notices and announcements as needed; restock supplies; provide support for the Chair, ASC II, 27 full-time faculty and 50-65 part-time faculty.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,912 - $4,592 per month

Hiring Range: $2,912 - $3,500 per month

Recruitment Type: Regular (probationary)

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 month

Work Hours: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm

Department Information

The Math and Statistics Department offers courses that lead to a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Mathematics, with emphasis in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a Teacher Preparation Program. A minor in Mathematics or Statistics and a Master of Arts in Mathematics is also offered.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry into this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills. A sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation as well as an ability to understand standard office procedures is required. Must be able to operate standard office equipment; must have an ability to learn office technology and an ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. These entry level qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school degree or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.
Required Qualifications
1. Proficient in standard office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to use CMS. 2. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required; 3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others to respond to multiple assignments and responsibilities; 4. Demonstrated ability to explain policies and procedures with accuracy. An ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative to complete assignments. 5. Ability to multi-task while using standard office equipment such as a multi-line phone, voicemail, personal computer, email, printer, copier, risograph, collator, scanner and fax machine. 6. Demonstrated customer service skills and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff. Condition of employment: - Ability to successfully pass a background check.

7. Previous experience in - or general working knowledge of - academic department organization, methods, and procedures.
