The Department of Neurological Surgery at UW Medicine seeks candidates for a full-time Assistant Professor without tenure by reason of funding in the clinician-scientist track.  University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

This position will be expected to develop a functional neurological surgery practice with a focus on movement disorders, epilepsy, pain, and peripheral nerve surgery.  Particular areas for niche development and growth include epilepsy, deep brain stimulation for psychiatric indications, and peripheral nerve surgery for trauma recovery. The candidate will be expected to establish their own lab and/or clinical research consistent with their academic interest. Teaching responsibilities include the education of medical students, residents, and fellows.

The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2022. Assistant Professors in the Department of Neurological Surgery have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30].

Qualifications

Experience in clinical or basic research is required. 

Applicants must have an M.D. (or foreign equivalent). An M.D./Ph.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) is also acceptable. 

Applicants must have expertise in functional neurological surgery.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
