Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for an Interim Physician Assistant Program Director to be filled immediately with an interim appointment until the full-time Program Director position is filled. This is a 12-month, full-time, interim administrative position reporting directly to the Dean of the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies.

The University is seeking an Interim Program Director who will work collaboratively with the Dean and transdisciplinary team in the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies, as well as internal and external partners, to help realize that vision.

The Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies has 38 full-time faculty, 14 staff, and close to 1000 students. The School offers undergraduate health studies, health promotion, health and physical education; master's physician assistant; doctoral occupational therapy; undergraduate, master's, and doctoral nursing programs; as well as post-master's and post-baccalaureate certificates and continuing education programs.

The Unterberg School's fully accredited Master of Science in Physician Assistant (PA) program is a full-time, 95-credit curriculum comprised of 28 months of coursework and supervised clinical practice experiences completed in 3-years time. The program admits a cohort of 30 students per year and has a 97% 5-year average first time taker pass rate on the national PA exam. The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Monmouth University MS PA program.

The ideal candidate will embrace a program culture where students come first and clinical excellence is paramount. This candidate will:

  • Be responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of the academic program;
  • Be a team-oriented, collaborative decision-maker with effective communication and problem-solving skills;
  • Know how to manage a budget, recruit and hire faculty, ensure and maintain high academic standards and program quality;
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the professional community to continually maintain clinical sites; and
  • Understand fully the demands of maintaining ARC-PA accreditation.

    The Interim Program Director will work in a fully renovated building with dedicated space built to optimize teaching and learning. This includes the new 7,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art Linda Grunin Simulation Lab and Learning Center, a groundbreaking partnership between Monmouth University and Monmouth Medical Center that provides hands-on learning in a realistic, hi-tech simulation environment.

    Other Requirements:
    Must be a physician assistant with a master’s degree or higher in physician assistant studies or related field.

    Current or emeritus National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and physician assistant license-eligible in the State of New Jersey.

    Three years of full-time higher education experience at the time of appointment.

    Knowledgeable about physician assistant program director responsibilities required by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Successful leadership as a program director in a physician assistant program.

    Service as an accreditation site visitor for ARC-PA.
