The Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) at Wayne State University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor, tenure track appointment starting Fall 2022. Job duties will include the following: teaching courses in CLLAS in the areas of Latin American history; participate in the educational programs of CLLAS designed to develop and enhance student academic success and retention; maintain ongoing program of scholarly research and publications in the field of Latin American history.

The candidate’s specialization should reflect a critical, interdisciplinary approach to Latin American history. Candidates who can teach and conduct research in the history of Mexico are especially encouraged to apply. Commitment to team work with faculty, advisors, and community partners in support of an integrated program model for student self-empowerment in academic excellence and leadership development. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population possessing widely ranging levels of academic skills and intellectual interests. Candidates are required to have an earned Ph.D. at the time of appointment and demonstrated evidence of excellent scholarly achievement and potential in the areas of research and teaching that may qualify for tenure in the Department of History.
