Job Description:

York College of Pennsylvania's Department of The Arts and Humanities invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in the Philosophy and Religious Studies program. AOS is open, with the exception of no need for ethics AOS. AOC is broadly open, with needs for Intro, Critical Thinking/Logic, Principles of Scientific Reasoning, Phil. of Medicine, and World Religion coverage. The ideal applicant should be able to teach broadly across analytic/continental approaches and across time periods.

The Assistant Professor in Philosophy will be responsible for teaching courses in the Philosophy, Medical Humanities, Humanities, Religious Studies, and general education programs as needed, advising majors, serving on departmental and college-wide committees, and pursuing a scholarly agenda. As a teaching-focused institution, York College seeks candidates committed to cultivating student excellence and with genuine interest in teaching and developing student scholarly activity. Our standard load is 4-4.

The Department of The Arts and Humanities is broadly interdisciplinary. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team.


Preferred applicants will hold a PhD in Philosophy, Humanities, or related field. ABD candidates with a completion date of no later than August 2022 will also be considered. The candidate should show evidence of scholarly potential, including established research agenda with future plans for ongoing work.
