The School of Engineering and Technology at Lake Superior State University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Mechatronics. This position will begin in August 2022.

The successful candidate will be innovative, entrepreneurial, and contribute their academic and professional expertise to students in the new Bachelor of Science program in Mechatronics Engineering Technology. In particular, we seek someone with experience in at least one of the areas:  Cyber-Physical Systems, Industry 4.0, or Industrial Control Systems.  The candidate will also teach courses in the engineering core curriculum. Instructional duties will depend on applicant’s areas of expertise.  Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Innovation and Solutions, the successful candidate will provide course instruction utilizing multiple teaching formats, including the traditional classroom, senior project supervision, and lab instruction. Other responsibilities include student advising, course and program assessment, developing and maintaining industry partnerships, lab development, pursuit of professional development activities, and university/departmental/community service. A high level of contribution towards student recruitment and marketing of the program is also expected.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s Degree in an Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field.  Desired qualifications include evidence of experience teaching at the undergraduate level; experience in developing, marketing, and recruiting for undergraduate programs; industrial experience; versatility in teaching general engineering and engineering technology courses and labs; a PhD or ABD in a relevant field; and evidence of the ability to teach from multiple formats including online, blended, and face-to-face.
