McPherson College’s Department of Health and Sport Science invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management, beginning August 2022. The position includes curriculum development and teaching responsibilities for courses in sport management, both introductory and advanced; sport marketing; sport finance; governance and policy in sport; and related subjects. Additional responsibilities include supervising practicum experiences, advising sport studies majors, working collaboratively in a small department, committee participation, course and program assessment, and service.

Located in central Kansas, McPherson College is a private, residential, liberal arts college of 800 students, of which 40 are currently sport studies majors. The ideal candidate will possess:

  1. A doctoral degree with significant coursework in sport management
  2. Experience teaching, coaching, or studying in the small, liberal arts college environment
  3. A demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching at the post-secondary level and a desire to develop innovative learning experiences
  4. A desire to participate collaboratively in the development of course and program curricula and the achievement of program goals and outcomes
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Credentials

  1. A master’s degree in sport management and a commitment to pursuing a Ph.D.
