Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Corporate Solutions and Economic Development. The Director of Business Development manages, motivates, coaches, supports, and trains the sales force for the department of Corporate Solutions and Economic Development ( CSED ) to develop the skills of the team, drive sales, and generate revenue. The key focus of this position is enhancing the division’s outreach in the community among regional employers and increasing the portfolio of customized solutions and contract training. This position is also responsible for managing strategic partnerships, evaluating business goals, establishing sales goals/objectives, and forecasting sales quotas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Requirements
  • Increases revenue and profit margins for customized solutions/contract training
  • Manages strategic partnerships and evaluates business goals
  • Establishes sales goals/objectives by forecasting and developing sales quotas
  • Projects sales volume and profit margin by product/service mix
  • Develops, implements, and executes a sales plan
  • Assesses the current employer and potential employer landscape of Tarrant County to identify needs in customized solutions to meet current and future workforce needs
  • Sells to existing and potential accounts as well as provides support to the sales team and partners to add value to the sales process
  • Prepares weekly sales reports as needed
  • Works in alignment with division practice leads to build up a network of subject matter experts to meet client needs and to create content, depth, and breadth for each product-market focus
  • Manages overall sales ecosystem and life cycle
  • Serves as a community and partner liaison for Tarrant County College District to build trusting relationships that will encourage growth, collaboration, referrals, and market growth
  • Assesses division needs and make recommendations as necessary
  • Manages customer relationship management software to best meet goals of the division
  • Continually develops knowledge of the business climate, competition, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
General Supervision and Management
  • Responsible for personnel management, evaluation, and development of assigned administrative and professional-level direct reports
  • Manages, motivates, coaches, supports, trains, and motivates the sales force to develop their skills to put them on a trajectory for success
  • Engages in an active hiring process to bring and sustain quality, business development representatives to the team
Service Excellence
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College ( TCC ) Institute
  • Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
  • Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

SUPERVISION – Works under the general supervision of Executive Vice President of Corporate Solutions and Economic Development.

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Sales, Marketing, or related field
  • Five (5) years proven business development/sales experience
  • Three (3) years of management experience in a B2B environment with strong business acumen and sales background
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising employees (e.g., managing and evaluating the performance of others)
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
  • Market analysis and sales forecasting experience
  • Budget management experience
  • Social networking experience (i.e. LinkedIn) for purposes of business development
