 Conferences and Camps is a department within Student Affairs at the University of North Carolina Asheville. The primary goals of the department are to:  
  • Create an attractive environment (physically, operationally, financially) that makes UNC Asheville the sought after and desired place to go for a wide variety of conferences and camps (residential and day). 
  • Develop/deliver and host conferences and camps that highlight the University's mission and strengths academic, athletic, recreational, cultural, leadership and community based - and have particular focus on our target market as a recruitment and educational tool. 
  • Capitalize on Asheville as a destination and attract some of the most high-profile summer and year-round academic conferences and camps to UNC Asheville. 
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure the Conferences and Camps Department is a one-stop-shop for clients with a focus on a) customer service, b) transparent contracts that clearly indicate costs, services provided (or not provided) and client/university responsibilities, c) efficient delivery and recovery and d) safety. 

Reporting to the Director of Conferences and Camps, The Assistant Director will oversee all aspects of executing a robust program of conferences and camps at UNC Asheville. The Assistant Director is expected to be a professional with the ability to interact and develop relationships with a wide variety of constituents including faculty, staff, students and community members, as well as external vendors and organizations.
Due to the nature of the work, this position requires a level of high energy and the ability to quickly and personally respond to emergencies and customer service issues throughout campus, as well as be outside throughout the summer months.
