The Director of Athletic Communication is an integral member of the Athletic Department and requires an enthusiastic, high-energy individual who is determined to see the departments success goals are met. This individual must be committed to the Athletic Department pillars to "Recruit, Retain, and Develop".

This individual will collaborate with the Director of Athletics to strengthen the athletics program in the areas of athletic communication, stat-keeping, web management, promotion, and athletic game-day event management/operations/coordination.

The Director of Athletic Communication works primarily with staff, coaches, students, conference office, the NCAA, and other administrative offices to ensure that each Mount Mary University student receives a quality experience.

Primary Responsibilities:

Communication

  • Website Content and Upkeep
    • Enter/Update rosters, schedules, scores, player bios, box scores, etc
    • Write articles for site including: player of the week, game previews, game recaps (all games, home & away)
  • Game Days
    • Need to be present and available for all Mount Mary home sporting contests throughout all three (fall, winter, spring) seasons (possible exceptions for cross country and golf).
    • Take Live stats for all home games
    • Occasionally travel to road games vs. opponents that do not do their own/sufficient statistics when approved by Director of Athletics
    • Coordinate pictures, video, sports announcers, and postgame interviews during home events
    • Create programs for home contests
    • Send stats to visiting team SID, NCAA, and Conference affiliates when applicable
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Create a "Media List" and send all results, features, and media releases to them
    • Send out Word and Statcrew rosters to opponents that will be hosting MMU teams
    • Interview coaches and student-athletes to gather information for "feature" articles
    • Upload content and updates to Angels' social media pages (facebook, twitter, instagram, etc)
    • Take team and individual athlete photos for purpose of posting to website and social media pages
      • Create senior or team posters when applicable
    • Create/Maintain "feature" pages for the website. Including but not confined to:
      • Awards/Hall of Fame
      • Archives/Records & Statistics
      • Multimedia
    • Submit weekly and seasonal conference and national nominations for player/team accolades
    • Any other tasks not listed above that are deemed to be media/communications related as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Master's in field of Sport Management/Administration preferred.
  • Must have experience within a collegiate athletic environment.
  • Strong computer skills with preferred experience with PrestoSports, Frontrush, video editing, and social media platforms.
  • Solid graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Strong organizational, management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with computer skills are required.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group process and foster collaborative decision making.

Physical Demands:

  • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Work schedule can vary. Can be scheduled for up to 40 hours a week during peak sports seasons
  • Night and weekend hours
  • Travel required
  • Varying workflow; sometimes stressful with high workload times of the year
  • Complete work required within a limited space
  • Complete work required within a limited time
