Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, lead the effort to market the University to prospective undergraduate students and their families; formulate enrollment strategy and goals for the university's undergraduate programs; manage the budget; general oversight of both first-year admission and transfer admission; work with financial aid, student accounts, student affairs, academic advising and academic deans in support of university enrollment goals.

Representative Duties:
  • Provide leadership and management of the admission and TRIO pre-university program teams, further developing and mentoring an energetic and dedicated staff to be responsive, innovative, results-oriented and student centered. E
  • In collaboration with the University Marketing, plan, organize and direct the effort to market the University to prospective undergraduate students and their families. E
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective TRIO pre-university programs. E
  • Develop, monitor and evaluate the Admissions marketing plan including publications, school relations, communications and new technology; and recommend changes to enhance recruitment programs. E
  • Set benchmark operational goals, identify tactics to achieve performance goals, develop and reports performance indicators to the university community for both first-year and transfer admission. E
  • Collaborate with academic units on admission standards, policy, and recruitment support. E
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Enrollment Systems to evaluate and recommend technology solutions to enhance recruitment effectiveness. E
  • Create and implement strategies to build a diverse, highly qualified student body with the potential to excel academically. E
  • Routinely analyze data to shape strategic direction and outcomes; regularly reassess effectiveness of recruitment activities and make appropriate adjustments so as to lead an effort that is continuously proactive and responsive to market forces and institutional priorities. E
  • Direct the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and files related to assigned activities; develop and maintain various admissions reports. E
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions; plan, coordinate and arrange for appropriate training of subordinates. E
  • Provide technical expertise, information and assistance to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success regarding assigned functions; assist as needed in the formulation and assistance and development of policies, procedures and programs. E
  • Build collaborative relationships with faculty and deans to enhance the academic reputation of the University. E
  • Develop and approve the budgets for Undergraduate Admission and TRIO pre-university programs; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations. E
  • Provide guidance and leadership in federal TRIO grant application and implementation processes. E
  • Monitor performance outcomes of TRIO programs in accordance with federal standards. E
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Financial Aid in the continuing development of an optimized financial aid program. E
  • Participate in recruitment activities; travel to various locations and make presentations; respond to correspondence and phone calls.
  • Communicate with other administrators, University personnel and contractors to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information; coordinate a variety of Admissions activities with Mission and Identity, Advancement and the Office of the President. E
  • Attend a variety of meetings including committee, staff and senior management-level meetings as assigned. E
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Interpretation and administration of federal TRIO regulations and legislation.
  • Student Success best practices as it pertains to low income, First generation college students
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology used to facilitate admission reporting, constituent relationship management systems and applicable software.
  • University mission, goals and objectives. Oral and written communication skills. Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training.
  • Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Record-keeping techniques.

  • Plan, organize and direct the effort to market the University to prospective undergraduate students and their families.
  • Integrate and manage multiple complex projects; a consistent track record of meeting performance goals.
  • Advocate for TRIO program initiatives and promote collaboration with university departments.
  • Develop an effective recruitment plan with clearly stated goals and supportive data. Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical reports.
  • Manage the budget.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Operate a computer and assigned office equipment.
  • Analyze situations accurately, balance risks with benefits and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Meet schedules and time lines.
  • Work independently with little direction. Plan and organize work. Prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports.


Minimum Qualifications:
Any Combination equivalent: A Master’s Degree and eight years of demonstrated experience as an admission professional with supervisory and leadership skills evidenced through at least six years of supervisory experience..
