Description

The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (AID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position. This position will be at the Assistant Professor level, without tenure for reasons of funding (WOT), and will have clinical, teaching, and research responsibilities. This position has an annual service period of 12-months [July 1-June 30] and is anticipated to start in July 2022.

 

The successful candidate will provide editorial support to four major online infectious diseases learning curricula, focused on hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), HIV, and HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The candidate will also provide outpatient care to patients living with HIV and viral hepatitis and will be the medical director of a low-barrier clinic for persons living homeless who inject drugs, focused on HIV prevention, HCV treatment, and treatment of substance use disorders. In addition, the candidate will attend on the inpatient infectious disease consult service and the inpatient medicine service, as determined by needs of the infectious disease and general internal medicine clinical services at Harborview Medical Center.

The position also includes opportunities for research in the field of harm reduction service delivery. The candidate will be expected to publish in the fields of HIV, viral hepatitis, and harm reduction services, as well as teach medical students, residents, and fellows in the clinic and hospital setting. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board eligible/ board certified in Infectious Diseases (or foreign equivalent). Successful candidates must have two years of experience in the care of persons living with HIV and viral hepatitis, in addition to the provision of low-barrier primary care and HIV prevention services for persons living homeless who inject drugs. Additionally, the successful candidate will have at least two years of experience developing national online medical curricula focused on viral hepatitis, HIV, and PrEP. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
