Primary Duties
Working relatively independently, the Operating Systems Analyst is responsible for the design, configuration, and daily operations of Enterprise Systems on-premise services. The position is also responsible for server maintenance, disk storage systems, backup and restore activities, documentation, training, and Enterprise Systems related technical and customer support for the campus.

KNOWLEDGE :
Incumbent must possess:
Thorough knowledge of:
  • Operating system technology, mid-large scale computer hardware architecture, and network communications.
  • Client/server technology.
  • Data storage systems, performance and capacity planning.
  • Industry standard encryption and authentication technologies.
  • Hypervisor technologies and virtual machine infrastructure.
  • Several programming and/or scripting languages such as C, C++, C#, PowerShell, UNIX Shell script, Perl, HTML, Java, .Net.
Incumbent must possess working knowledge of:
  • Backup technologies (Commvault preferred).
  • Incident Management (Team Dynamix preferred).
  • Vulnerability scanner (Qualys preferred).
  • Network technology, firewalls, load balancing, DNS, VPN tunnels, and other networking components.
  • Applications running on supported systems including but not limited to web and database services.
  • Microsoft Office, web applications and databases.

  • Use operating system performance monitors and related tools, interpret the results and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Adjust to change (i.e., work environment, technology).
  • Read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.

Required Education and/or Experience
Requires the equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or a related field,
AND
Two years experience in technology-related customer support services and service request tracking systems.
OR
Six years of full-time, relevant experience in Computer Science, MIS, or a related technical field. Additional Requirements for this Position

Special Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office and data center to access server and storage equipment. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service computer hardware. Constantly operate a computer and related office machinery and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Must be able to travel across campus to other offices and buildings on and off campus for meetings and events.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Position requires frequent to constant interaction with team members and university staff and faculty for consultation or to provide technical support and assistance. Frequent travel between campus offices for meetings is required. Occasional travel off campus for training is also required. Benefits

Eligibility for Affordable Care Act ( ACA ) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period.
